Nothing is quite as reassuring as a great user interface (UI)! That's why we're thrilled to announce the integration of Figma into our design toolkit. With this update, you can now craft your front-end designs in Figma, leveraging the Zoho Creator UI toolkit, and seamlessly import them into your application using widgets.

To streamline form entries and enhance user experience, we've introduced the focus task in Deluge, which lets you precisely direct the cursor during data entry. By strategically placing multiple focus statements within a form, you can determine the ideal sequence for entering data, ensuring a smooth and intuitive process for the user.

In 2024, we kicked off with a significant introduction: custom APIs! This highly anticipated developer feature simplifies the configuration of custom APIs for developers. It enables you to connect your app to external services seamlessly and execute actions beyond the capabilities of REST APIs. Additionally, this feature extends to existing Deluge functions, which can now be invoked using APIs.

Zoho Creator applications will now flaunt a visually enhanced dark blue theme that's more navigable, organized, and appealing! This will be applicable to all apps created from the day of update.

You can now configure Deluge workflows for your kanban, timeline, and calendar reports, and triggers emails, pop-up messages, and redirections! This workflow, that's configured on edit of a form, can now be triggered directly from the UI of the report, making it easier for the end user.

To enhance storage efficiency and support high-resolution image uploads in your application, we've implemented a compress image feature for the image field. Activating this option automatically compresses uploaded images to 2560 pixels, removing the need for third-party services.

This highly anticipated feature enables you to effectively manage your schedule limits by ensuring that only the pertinent workflows are transitioned to the live mode of the application. For workflows created solely for testing purposes and unnecessary in live mode, you can suspend them across environments using the Suspend All Schedules option. Conversely, to enable scheduled workflows specific to individual applications, you can choose the Application Specific option.

We've expanded the debugging capability to page scripts by activating the Execute button upon saving the page script. This debugging functionality aids in pinpointing errors and flaws in the code, empowering developers to address them effectively. You can verify the output for your real-life use case by testing custom input values for the parameters beforehand.

This update allows you to toggle notifications for specific tasks within your application, including record comments, blueprint transitions, and approval workflows. You can also disable notifications entirely for a more focused experience.

We now support Google Analytics for portal users! With this addition, you can extract user behavior patterns, engagement data, traffic sources, conversions, and other metrics from your application portals to understand your customers better using Google Analytics.

We've improved report filters with a custom sort and group feature, allowing you to arrange records based on your specified order and values. This enhancement significantly minimizes the time required to navigate through extensive reports. It proves beneficial when grouping is determined by custom requirements rather than a need for logical or chronological organization. Custom sorting is applicable to both common and kanban reports.

Introducing the Confirm Form Submission property, designed to prevent inadvertent record submissions triggered by the return key, commonly confused with the tab key used for field navigation. This feature, admin-enabled, exclusively caters to web keyboard users.

• Zoho Billing

  Zoho Subscriptions is now known as Zoho Billing, and this change has been extended to Deluge tasks in Zoho Creator. All Deluge tasks previously using 'zoho.subscriptions' have been updated to 'zoho.billing'.

• Zoho FSM

  Zoho FSM is end-to-end field service management cloud software that comes with a bundle of features for invoicing, customer experience, and data processing. The following Deluge tasks for Zoho FSM have been added to Zoho Creator–Create Record, Get Records, Get Records by ID, Get Related Records, and Update Records—to better enable powerful cross-app workflows.

Zoho BugTracker is your one-stop shop for reporting, tracking, and resolving bugs for seamless software delivery. Now Zoho BugTracker can be integrated with Zoho Creator applications for better project management!

App variables in Zoho Creator are used for storing and accessing data in your application. This lets you define organization names, addresses, and other constants once and use them across your application, enabling centralized variable management. The value changes are recorded and the defined and current values of any variable at any point can be accessed from Settings.

QR and barcode scanning, which was previously only available on mobile devices, is now extended to progressive web apps on Zoho Creator! This increases the range of data input options to mobile web browsers, which are widely used by field workers.

With new header and parameter keys, the all-new v2.1 APIs introduces more efficient parsing techniques through updated structures and data types for response values.

We've introduced a new built-in function in Deluge, specifically designed for Unix-based systems, to enhance the efficient management of date and time data. In addition to Unix-based conversions, this function comes in handy when the conversion of date-time formats and time zones is involved.

We're introducing four-way navigation to run through your fields while filling in forms! This means that users can now toggle between fields by using a combination of arrow keys and special keys—option for Mac and alt for Windows. The field navigation setting is set to vertical by default, as that's mostly used in forms with a single column of fields—but it can now be set to horizontal based on user preference.

Page scripts are Deluge functions that can be versatile tools for executing workflows on pages. They can be applied to various components, such as panels, charts, and gauges. Page scripts store their values in page variables, offering a centralized approach to organizing and managing variables and workflow logic. This consolidation enhances the computational capabilities of all page elements.

Our optical character recognition (OCR) now supports PDF files! A commonly used format for invoices, receipts, agreements, and contracts, this feature enables you to scan multi-page PDF files of all types, extract text data from it, and store it in designated fields throughout the application.

We're introducing a new feature called Metrics, which serves as an analytical and monitoring dashboard for your Zoho Creator account. It offers usage statistics and comparative insights across applications and their users using data points, heat maps, and charts. This module is designed to assist the IT team in analyzing user behaviors and usage patterns, ultimately aiding in calculating ROI.

You can now benefit from our new Save as Draft feature for forms, which empowers you to save your partially filled forms, ensuring you can conveniently return to them later without any risk of losing your data.

Logged-in users can now personally authorize connections with their Zoho and third-party accounts. Accessing an integration through a logged-in user connection ensures that all the controls and security measures applied within the respective integrated Zoho or third-party service are followed, enhancing the integration's natural flow and security.

Portal pages can now be personalized and styled to align with your organization's branding standards and business objectives, while also adhering to the application's design.

We've introduced an application-level filter for user exports, enabling you to sort users based on their access to specific applications. These added export details prove valuable for auditing and analyzing user distribution in terms of roles and permissions. The exported file will contain the user's email address, along with their associated roles and permissions for the selected application.

We've introduced a three-stop checkpoint system for removing the stage(s) of an application. This ensures zero data loss by ensuring confirmation checks before final deletion.

With the new pricing plan adjusted, you can now integrate Zoho Analytics with the newest version of Creator and transfer all your data seamlessly.

Bigger data limits for bigger applications! We've raised the size limit for CSV file imports to 2GB, to allow import of extensive data into reports.

The zcLoadIn query parameter enables you to open your Creator application components inside pages. This can be done either in a pop-up window or inside an embed container that can be renamed and used as a reference in other page elements in the same window.

Zoho Creator's API will now be described using OpenAPI version 3.0. The OpenAPI specification (OAS) file is now available for download and can be used to interact with API elements.

We've introduced two new Deluge tasks for blueprints, which can now be leveraged for your apps.

Deleting a page parameter is now easier than ever! When deleting a page parameter with multiple instances, your app will trigger a popup. The View button can now be used to navigate, view, and delete the references in one go, instead of blocking the deletion process altogether.

With this release, you can now integrate Zoho Creator with services that are not already part of the 500+ built-in connections. You can create connections to any service that supports Basic, API Key, or OAuth2 authentication.

Analyze, review, and optimize your business management processes, aka blueprints, with blueprint analytics. With this release, you can now obtain data charts for records in blueprints and get insights to identify how long a request will take to execute, where requests are stalling in the pipeline, and the risks and causes.

You can now use your company logo and favicon in your Zoho Creator application—and that's not all! You can also add background and foreground colors to app icons, and leverage custom fonts and colors, including a secondary palette, to keep your brand identity intact.

The bell icon in the top pane now alerts you whenever someone @mentions you in the comments section and shows real-time notifications for approval workflows, blueprint processes, Deluge actions, and important announcements across web, mobile, and tablet devices.

We've now enabled users to add columns to their reports while importing data. With the ability to add default values to fields, this feature comes in handy when you import data into an existing application from a file.

We've revamped the publish reports feature with a categorical and easy-to-use UI. This comes with an option to customize reports with style-based URLs. The features have been grouped into three sections–General Properties, Header, and Footer.

Panels are the primary component of a page on Zoho Creator. With the introduction of panel presets, you can now save the configurations and display values of your panels using built-in presets. This can be reused in all your applications, saving you time and effort.

With a modified UI, Zoho Creator is now available for Android 12, and comes with custom form titles and new displays for reports.

Zoho Creator is now AR-powered! With this upgrade, you can use AR fields and libraries, and invoke your mobile camera for a real-world immersive 3D experience, thereby enhancing user experience.

Zoho Creator On-Premise, which lets developers build custom low-code applications rapidly and launch them on-premises, has been rebranded as ManageEngine AppCreator. IT app development teams can now collaborate, develop, deploy, and maintain applications with fewer resources, while meeting high standards of data security and compliance.

Zoho Creator 6, which includes an application creator, BI & analytics capabilities, and a custom integration feature, can now be added to your Zoho One bundle. The apps you build on Zoho Creator can be accessed from both the standalone version as well as Zoho One.

This much-awaited feature lets you navigate through large amounts of data to narrow down to a required record. The advanced search option, which is available for dropdown or multi-select display types, will be automatically enabled if there are more than 500,000 records in the lookup field.

You can now export Zoho Creator reports to file formats like XLS, PDF, XML, JSON, CSV, and TSV from mobile and tablet devices. This comes with the option to change the name, select the columns to be included, and make the file password-protected.

We've enhanced pivot charts and tables with Zia Insights. This feature helps you analyze data from pivot reports automatically, and provides actionable insights into your visual data.

Introducing V2 bulk-read APIs, which help us move towards a more robust authentication process. This will enable you to process beyond the current limit of 200 records.

The all-new Zoho Creator 6 is here! This version, C6 as we call it, comes with a sophisticated application development offering—life cycle, stages, and production environments. It's a unified platform for everything software. From app-building to business intelligence, analytics, and integration flows, Zoho Creator 6 lets you check every box for your business needs. The improved user management system and a unified data source model are some of the many other highlights.

You currently can create apps and forms by importing data into the live mode of Creator. We have enhanced it to be able to update existing records when importing data.

Apart from this, we now also have Smart Suggestions (hitherto available for form creation, in live mode) that provides AI-based recommendations during data imports.

With the addition of Blueprints in Zoho Creator, you can now replicate your business processes virtually. Broadly divided into stages and transitions, Blueprints let you customize every detail of every process in your application and facilitate collaboration with various stakeholders.

We are introducing the Zoho Creator Software Development Kit (SDK) for your Android and iOS apps.

We have tweaked the UI of the choice field property in forms to include an info message, to provide users a heads up of when renaming a choice field value.

• Record logs

With this update, you can now capture the IP address and source information of users who make changes to your application records. The record logs are encrypted at rest and can be exported as a csv file. This feature is disabled by default.

• Export and print logs

Introducing the export and print logs feature. This lets you view the history of exporting and printing actions performed by end users while accessing your reports, with a data retention period of 90 days.

As a major security update, you can now limit users' access to resources. This lets the admin prevent unauthorized usage of available APIs.

• PII data (personally identifiable information)

Users with this permission can access data marked as PII, which can be enabled for a field by choosing the Contains personal data option in the field properties pane in the Form builder

• ePHI data (electronic protected health information)

Users with this permission can access data marked as epHI, which can be enabled for a field by choosing the Contains health info option in the field properties pane in the Form builder.

With this brand-new ready-to-install app from our App Deck, you can manage all your admission processes—from registrations and course selection to onboarding—with customized portals.

This designer offers an intuitive, WYSIWYG interface for customizing the design of your customer portal's login, sign up, and reset password pages. Advanced customizability options let you enhance the visual aspects of these pages, such as the size and background image, to make it more enticing to customers.

Manage your gym efficiently with the ready-to-use Gym Management application, which can be installed directly from the App Deck. This app is equipped to handle management and administration of fitness clubs of all sizes.

A new group of templates called "Inventories" has been added to the record template gallery. These can be utilized while creating a record template to present data in an inventory-like manner.

Before this release, Deluge support extended only to the standard alert which is displayed as a pop-up when a form submission is cancelled. With this addition, you can now display a custom message under a specific field of your choice.

The all-new form workflows are now available for new signups. It comes with a handful of new features:

• A modified create screen that clearly identifies record and form events for the workflow.
• Actions in it are based on events that are provided at the time of creation. This filters out the rest of the actions to cater to specific requirements.
• A preview for the Deluge scripts is now visible in the workflow builder, which eases navigation. 
• The revised dashboard comes with support for manual arrangement of execution order and filtering of workflows.

The lookup field in Zoho Creator now allows you to fetch data from the same form. This adds utility in cases where the records in a form need to be related to each other.

You can now search for data across your Zoho apps by launching Zia Search from your list reports. This is available on both iOS and Android platforms, provided the Zia app is installed on the device.

Progressive Web App, or PWA, is a software development methodology that gives web applications the power of native mobile apps when accessed through a mobile browser. Every app you build on Zoho Creator is now a PWA and can be added to the home screen of the mobile device.

You can now integrate your Creator apps with Zoho Connect via Deluge. It's possible to configure announcements and other schedule-based activities on Zoho Connect by using Deluge workflows.

Zoho Creator's app building interface is now also available in Arabic. The interface will be translated when your web browser's language is set to Arabic.

We've added a brand-new, ready-to-use Legal Case Management app to the App Deck. It's built to streamline end-to-end caseflow management for litigation firms.

You can now integrate your Creator apps with Zoho Sign via Deluge. From uploading templates to Zoho Sign to performing complex manipulations, everything can now be directly driven from the Deluge editor.

Customization is synonymous with user experience and this is exactly what contextual messaging brings. Now you can display custom messages based on context and make them more relevant to your audience.

Zoho's AI is now available to help you build smarter custom apps. New fields have been introduced in Creator to perform:

• Prediction

The prediction field can be trained to predict likely outcomes based on historical data. For example, you can predict whether an individual will attend your event based on their previous visits.

• Sentiment analysis

This field determines whether a given text carries a positive, negative, or neutral sentiment. It can be used to determine the sentiment of data such as employee feedback, analyst reviews, customer surveys, and support tickets.

• Keyword extraction

The keyword extractor can be used to pull out words from a paragraph that best describes the subject.

• OCR

Optical character recognition identifies and extracts text from images.

• Object detection

Object detection identifies the presence of real-life objects in images. For example, it can be used to detect billing items in a supermarket or prohibited items at events.

In addition to AI fields, you can add five AI tasks to your apps via Deluge. You can do things like trigger workflows and UI alerts based on the responses from these tasks.

The relationship diagram has been reincarnated as the schema builder—a graphical tool that lets you visualize your app logically and create new relationships between forms.

iOS 13 users can now scan multiple images and upload them as a PDF to the file upload field. This feature is supported in both our user and customer portal iOS apps.

The time field records time independent of date, allowing fine-grained control over time specifications, such as the use of 12 hour and 24 hour format and time interval capture. The selected format is also consistent with the data stored in other time-related fields.

Comments for records enables you to have conversations over records and tag participants based on permissions. It's visible in the detail view of a record. Based on the permissions set by the admin, the user may be able to read/write comments. Deleting a comment can be done either by the owner of the comment or the admin.

This element enables you to search for data across apps by filtering a report or page using the search input.

The template builder has now been equipped with a couple of high-utility features to facilitate a seamless template building experience: auto-save, the new element spacer, and the introduction of tabs to organize fields and template elements.

Zoho Creator has taken yet another leap with its mobile experience. The greater real estate of the iPad has been leveraged to support multi-column layouts for forms, improved access to actions—such as search, group, and sort—in reports, and an improved experience while accessing the image, file upload, audio, and video fields.

Creator apps now support dark mode, which is easier on the eyes and better suited for low-light situations.

On allowing the user to take a picture using the device camera, this option becomes available. It allows you to draw inputs for the image field.

With this addition, you can access multiple app components on your iPad simultaneously on different windows. In the case of open URL tasks, a new adjacent window will be opened for those tasks which are set to open in new tabs.

All Creator mobile apps can now capture your user's location—with consent—even when their mobile device is offline.

With app shortcuts, you can now long-press on the app from the Applications screen and add it to the home screen of your Android device.

A Collection data type lets you store either a list of elements or key-value pairs belonging to a map variable. We've also introduced new built-in functions that enable you to perform operations on collection variables.

Localization is key to globalizing your apps. And with that in mind, we've introduced the RTL layout. It's the mirrored version of the default LTR layout, without changing numbers and untranslated text. This layout helps with localizing Zoho Creator, allowing you to format your app to fit over 20 countries that follow the RTL layout.

We've introduced gauges to represent single-value metrics. It gives a visual  representation of the metric, and how the business is progressing in that metric.

We've launched a new logo for Zoho Creator incorporating business, low-code, and full-stack development references.

Introducing the DKIM authentication mechanism. It allows Zoho Creator to verify the sender address, which reduces the chance of emails from Creator landing in the receiver's spam folder.

Panel Builder is a drag-and-drop interface for customizing panels in the pages of your Zoho Creator application. With this, you can add elements, such as buttons, images, and text to a panel.

With Siri shortcuts for the components of your Zoho Creator iOS application, you can preset custom commands. This enables you to launch important and frequently used app components using Siri. It should be noted that this feature is not applicable for iOS portal app.

We've added keyboard shortcuts for launching Zia Search, either from your Creator account's home page or while editing the app. Zia Search is Zoho's personal search assistant that can pull search results from apps across the Zoho suite. You can use Ctrl + / on Windows, and Command (⌘) + / on Mac.

With this connection, payments on Zoho Creator applications can be processed through the Stripe payment gateway. 

With Zia—Zoho's AI assistant for business—you can more efficiently import data during app creation. It helps with:

• Data cleansing, which includes filtering of data to suit tables in the database
• Associating subforms and their data with ease
• Tabular appearance of data instead of sections
• Splitting and grouping of columns
• Auto-assigning fields based on conditions

We've added two new themes with a combination of 9 different colors. Now you can customize your application with vertical components and section listings, offering better visibility and navigation for your app.

The Zoho OAuth connection enables users to connect with all Zoho services securely, with the help of OAuth tokens. OAuth lets you create multiple connections with different permission sets. It's a step up from the previous auth token, which had restrictions on the number of Zoho services and permissions for each connection.

Personalize your mobile apps with the icon of your choice and publish it to the App Store and Play Store. Upload a custom icon during the code-signing process, and your users will see your brand logo on their mobile devices, as well.

With this integration, you can create forms for modules in your QuickBooks account which would otherwise require scripting. Moreover, this enables you to add a QuickBooks field to your forms. 

We've equipped Zoho Creator with the following security and privacy features that will enable you to build GDPR-compliant applications:

We announced a major update to Zoho Creator. The latest version, dubbed Creator 5, significantly enhanced and refined the core functionality of the platform, including its Mobile App Creator, Page Creator, Form Creator, Report Creator and Workflow Creator modules. This launch also introduced the ability to design and develop native custom mobile apps alongside web applications.

The mobile apps now look more like part of your device. We have followed the native Android, iOS themes and a flat dashboard for your apps. The dynamic font support allows you to set your own font size preferences. An easy access button is provided to get back to your recent actions in your app like search history and records. A separate mobile app for your Zoho Creator customer portal. Log in to your dedicated portals, access applications shared with you, submit data, and edit the records you have submitted.

The Zoho Creator mobile app got an update. You can now access your data even when there is no connectivity. You can add data too, which will be synced when you get back online.

A Customer Portal is a great way for an organization to allow its customers to login into their dedicated internal system and access restricted data. Instead of building their own authentication and security mechanisms, users can use Zoho Creator portals. Users can sign up with their portal instead of signup with Zoho. Users can login into their dedicated portal, access applications shared to them, submit data, and most importantly, view and edit only those records which they submitted.

The Record Summary feature (applicable only for list report format) allows you to create a custom view of each record, by just drag-and-drop of fields in the required position. You can also insert images and description and make each record look like a page in itself. For example, you can create an invoice document from a single invoice record. Other uses include creation of estimates, brochures, certificates, newsletters, campaign mails, visiting cards, product phamplets etc.

Our new UI has a flat-interlinked-monochromatic design that can help you build apps more intuitively and in lesser time. You can specify the Start and End time during which the form can be accessed by users. Users can submit form data only during this period, when the Form is active. Also provided more validations like "One Entry Per IP Address", "One Entry Per User" and "Maximum Allowed Entries"

Migrating data between services is a pain, regardless of the services. We’ve always been for simplifying these tedious tasks, because most of Zoho Creator users have the need to synchronize data from in-house applications (ERP system for example), with their custom apps in Zoho Creator. Configuring Allowed days and Allowed Hours lets users to enter data only in the specified date and time. Similarly when you create a calendar report using the Date - Time field for which the Allowed days and Allowed Hours are set, a report will be created where users can only record their data within the specified date and time.
