DNS Record Configuration for Name.com

Zoho Mail provides multiple options to verify your domain ownership and configure email delivery in Name.com.

Name.com DNS - Add TXT records for verification

If your domain's DNS is hosted with Name.com, follow the instructions below to add the TXT record and verify the domain.

  1. Login to your Name.com domain manager.
  2. Go to My Domains in the top menu.
  3. Click the domain you have added in Zoho for verification and click Manage DNS Records.
  4. Select TXT from the Type drop-down. 
  5. Enter the details for your TXT record. 
    • In the Host field, enter 
    • In the TXT Value field, enter the TXT value generated in the Zoho Mail Admin Console
    • In the TTL field, enter 3600 seconds
  6. Click the Add Record button.
  7. Now come back to mailadmin.zoho.com page and click 'Verify by TXT'.
  8. If the DNS information is correctly propagated, the domain will be verified. You can check the status of the propagation in the DNS checker and proceed with the next steps to create user accounts. 

Name.com DNS - Add CNAME records for verification

If your domain's DNS is hosted with Name.com, follow the instructions below to add the CNAME and verify the domain.

  1. Login to your Name.com domain manager.
  2. Go to My Domains in the top menu.
  3. Click the domain you have added in Zoho for verification and click Manage DNS Records.
  4. Select CNAME from the Type drop-down. 
  5. Specify the Host as the code generated in your Zoho domain verification page (Example: zb12345678).
  6. In the Answer field, enter the value from the CNAME Value/ Points To/ Destination field of your Zoho Mail Admin Console.
  7. Set the TTL to 300 and click Add Record

You have now added the CNAME successfully. You may have to wait for at least an hour for the changes to take effect in the DNS Servers. After an hour or two, log in to your Zoho Mail control panel and click Verify. Once your domain is verified, you can start adding users and creating mail accounts.

Update MX Records to receive emails: Name.com DNS

You need to add the MX entries for your domain to point to Zoho, to start receiving emails in Zoho Mail. Follow the steps below, if your DNS records are hosted with Name.com.

  1. Login to your Name.com domain manager.
  2. Go to My Domains in the top menu.
  3. Click the domain you have added in Zoho for verification and click Manage DNS Records.
  4. Select MX from the Type drop-down. 
  5. In the Host field, leave it blank. Do not add anything.
  6. In the Answer field, specify mx.zoho.com and set the Prio:(Priority) as 10.
  7. Click Add Record to add the next MX record.
  8. Leave the Record Host field blank, specify Answer as mx2.zoho.com and set the Prio:(Priority) as 20.
  9. Similarly, click Add Record again to add the next MX record.
  10. Leave the Record Host field blank, specify Answer as mx3.zoho.com and set the Prio:(Priority) as 50.

You have now added the MX Records successfully. You may have to wait for at least 6 to 24 hours for the changes to take effect in the DNS Servers. After an hour or two, you will start receiving emails at your Zoho Account.

Note:

  • The MX values given above are based on the generic configuration information. For more specific configuration particular for your domain refer this section in the Admin Control Panel.
  • We recommend you to go through your DNS providers support documentation for the exact method to add the MX entries.

Ensure that you have removed the other records to receive emails in Zoho without any errors.  Only the MX records related to Zoho Mail should be associated with the domain. You can check the MX records in Zoho's DNS MX Lookup tool by providing your domain name.
