Why is my bank account number different in Zoho Payments?

If you’ve connected your JP Morgan Chase, PNC, or US Bank account using Stripe Financial Connections or Plaid, the account number shown in Zoho Payments might not match your actual bank account number. This is because these banks use a security feature called Tokenized Account Numbers (TANs).

A TAN is a temporary bank account credential issued by your financial institution. Instead of sharing your real account number, the bank generates a unique token that is securely linked to your account. TANs work the same way as real account numbers for processing payments and payouts, so your transactions will continue as usual.

Note: If you manually added your bank account in Zoho Payments (and not through Stripe Financial Connections or Plaid), your real account number is used and TANs do not apply.

If you disable TAN in your bank’s security settings, your payouts will fail because the tokenized account number that Zoho Payments relies on becomes invalid. To resolve this, reconnect your bank account or manually enter your bank details in Zoho Payments.
